GF Machining Solutions, a division of GF, plans to increase its production capacity for milling machines to meet strong customer demand for its high speed milling machines.
Sales of GF milling machines have doubled over the past few years and the current plant in Nidau (Switzerland) has reached its capacity limits. In order to enable further growth, GF Machining Solutions is planning to invest in a new milling plant in Biel. The new facility will include a state-of-the art research & development center and a modern application center. The production plant will be designed according to the highest standards in energy efficiency and incorporate the latest assembly technology to further improve efficiency.
The new facility will bring approx. 460 high-qualified jobs to the city of Biel. Land and building will be leased. Start of construction is planned for 2016 and is subject to the approval of the city of Biel.
Yves Serra, CEO of GF, says: “This modern plant will allow GF Machining Solutions to increase the production capacity and optimize the competitiveness of its cutting edge milling solutions. This investment underscores the commitment of GF to Switzerland as the R&D and production center for our high-precision machine tools.”
