CRP Technology, CRP Group’s specialized division in additive manufacturing (both in Modena, Italy), has enlaged its machinery. The company has bought Ricoh AM S5500p laser sintering system for additive manufacturing of functional prototypes and end-use parts. The system is a multi-material 3D printer with large modeling area (550 × 550 × 500mm) to enable manufacturing many components at once.

CRP is said to be the first in Italy to have a multi-material 3D printer with large modeling area, allowing it to make the most of the range of materials available to them, including the company’s Windform high-performance composite materials.

CRP Meccanica’s high-precision CNC machining department has added an X line 2000R from Concept Laser (Lichtenfels, Germany), a laser metal melting machine with a 800 × 400 × 500mm build envelope. The machine increases the build volume to produce large parts and components. This feature, combined with the X line 2000R 1000W dual laser, ensures high productivity and shorter completion times than machines of varying sizes from equivalent volumes. A rotating mechanism allows two build modules to be built reciprocally, guaranteeing constant production without any downtimes.

The department also added a GF Machining Solutions Mikron HPM 800U milling machine, which produces high-quality, voluminous, and complex mold making and production parts economically and with precision.
