Southend-based chrome plating specialist Borough Ltd has increased its capacity with the arrival of a further new ENGEL e-motion 300, injection moulding machine.
Although renowned for its innovation and ability to chrome plate plastic components for the automotive industry, the firm has found that demand for moulded parts has grown in recent months.
David Coombes, managing director, Borough Ltd, said: “The performance of the global automotive industry, particularly the likes of Jaguar Land Rover, BMW and Toyota, puts pressure on the supply chain to perform and requires all of us to improve our service delivery.”
He added that more machines not only increases the firm’s capacity, but also helps improve its efficiency, key to meeting the rising demands of its clients.
Borough is recognised as one the world’s leading chrome-platers of plastic components, but for many years has plated the components supplied by other injection moulders.
The machine means that Borough now moulds a high proportion of its own parts, which actually suits the firm even better because plating plastic with chrome requires special consideration of how the component is designed and moulded.
