German Association of Model and Mould Manufacturers partner of METAV 2016

MetavGerman Association of Model and Mould Manufacturers has decided to participate as a partner in the METAV 2016 – the 19th International Exhibition for Metalworking Technologies, which will take place from 23rd to 27th February. “Now that the trade fair scene for tool, model and mould manufacturers has become a lot more fluid, we want to utilise all the options available for upgrading and expanding the fair’s presence in the sector together with our members and network partners,” says Dipl.-Ing. Ulrich Hermann, President of the association.

“We shall be showing the flag in the Moulding Area of the METAV 2016,” is how Hermann, whose full-time job is Managing Director of Messrs. Modellbau Hermann in Siegen, summarises the association’s plans. It represents around 260 member companies and 30 network partners. The German Association of Model and Mould Manufacturers intends to organise a sectoral meet-up for them in the new Moulding Area, and to make itself available as a contact point for any trade visitors interested.

“With this profile, model and mould construction has many interfaces with the METAV’s core remit and the other areas,” explains Ulrich Hermann. “We work closely together with industrial designers, manufacture our models using CNC milling or additive manufacturing processes, and have to possess extensive knowledge of metrological and testing technology so as to assure the quality of the end-products.”

“So we’re all the more gratified to have gained the Association of Model and Mould Manufacturers as a partner for the METAV, specifically for our Moulding Area,” says Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, Executive Director at the METAV’s organiser, the VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association), Frankfurt am Main. “Thus the final gap has now also been closed for the trade visitor when it comes to imaging at the METAV the entire process chain from design, model construction, CAD, software and simulation through the various production processes involved, all the way through to metrological and testing technology,” adds Schäfer.
