Engel will show new range of e-mac sizes at Fakuma

Engel will show an all-electric 3-mac injection press in new clamping forces at Fakuma.

Engel Holding GmbH will show highly integrated manufacturing cells at Fakuma 2017 — including an all-electric e-mac injection press in a new clamping-force class, the first Clearmelt exterior component, a new compact pipe distributor for clean rooms and high-precision processing of liquid silicone rubber.

On the e-mac press, Engel will mold 40-pole nylon connector housings for vehicle doors.

In time for Fakuma, Engel has expanded the e-mac line to 280 metric tons of clamping force, up from the previous max of 180 tonnes.

Engel, based in Schwertberg, Austria, also plans to run mold needle holders for safety syringes on a 16-cavity Fostag mold.

An Engel Viper 12 linear robot will remove the polystyrene parts from the mold and transfer them to a distribution system that packs them in cavity-specific bags.

Engel designed the pipe distributor and the bag-packing cart as a fixed unit, which can be easily moved back and force, allowing the press to have flexibility to mold other parts.

For clean room use, Engel redesigned its stainless steel pipe distributor for cavity-specific handling of small parts — so the handling system now fits completely into the expanded safety gate of the injection press.

Engel also will mold LSR parts — venting valves for beverage bottles – in a tie-barless Engel Victory press.

Fakuma will mark the first time the company will present a Victory press with a next-generation injection unit at a trade fair.

Engel will exhibit at Hall A5, Stand 5204.
